Foraging with Fi Martynoga - on the BBC and more
Fi Martynoga, editor of Handbook of Scotland's Wild Harvests, took BBC reporter Huw Williams out on a foraging walk, and you can read all about it on Huw's report on the BBC website. "I knew Fi Martynoga was a fervent forager," Huw says, "But even so I was surprised at the number of species she identified which we could eat." Their walk and the goodies Fi found will be featured on this Saturday's Out of Doors programme, as well as having a slot on Good Morning Scotland.
Food blogger Wendy Barrie of Goodfoodology also posted a review of the book this week. "It is a timeous foodie publication as increasing numbers of Scots are warming to the traditions of their forbears and gathering goodies from nature," says Wendy. "There are clear instructions and recipes and I also really enjoyed the historial references to our food culture and geographical links with our terroir. In that sense it is a reminder that a healthy planet will reap its own rewards. Reading of heathery beds for sweet dreams and Captain Cook’s spruce beer for sea voyages was fascinating."
